Aleppo, Syria – The Syrian air force renewed its bombardment to residential neighbourhoods in the city of Aleppo on Sunday. At least 10 civilians were reportedly injured amid air strikes by the pro-regime helicopters on the neighbourhoods of Masakin Hanano and Sheik Khider in central Aleppo.
Imad Hussein, civil activist based in Aleppo, told ARA News that the pro-Assad helicopters dropped 4 explosive barrels on both Masakin Hanano and Sheikh Khider neighbourhoods, causing injuries of ten civilians, some of them are seriously sounded.
“They (the injured) were transferred to nearby field hospitals, and the residential buildings in both areas were severely damaged due to the attacks,” Hussein reported.
Meanwhile, 4 other civilians were killed on Sunday morning in Bustan al-Qasr neighbourhood after being targeted by pro-Assad warplanes. This coincided with clashes near al-Hajez garage crossing in the same neighbourhood, local sources reported.
Ismail Aziz, a human rights activist from Aleppo, told ARA News that Civil Defence teams with the help of residents could take out a whole family out of the rubble after Bustan al-Qasr bombardment.
Aziz pointed out that the pro-regime warplanes also bombed the city of al-Atareb in the western countryside of Aleppo with thermobaric weapons (rockets), which led to a huge damage in residential areas.
“6 civilians were wounded in al-Atareb’s attack,” Aziz said.
Sunday attacks also included Kastillo area and al-Kindi hospital which were hit with heavy machine guns amid clashes between opposition fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and pro-Assad military forces.
