Qamishli, Syria – Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) vowed to eliminate the Palestinian movement of Hamas and taking over the Gaza Strip, according to a video statement released by pro-IS sources on Tuesday.
The IS radical group accused Hamas Movement of preventing implementation of “true Sharia” in the Palestinian territory.
The IS senior leader in Aleppo, Abu Azzam al-Ghazzawi, threatened Hamas in a videotape, saying: “We will uproot the state of the Jews (Israel) and you (Hamas) and Fatah.”
“The rule of Sharia (Islamic law) will be implemented in Gaza. We swear that what is happening today in the Levant, especially in the Yarmouk camp, will happen in Gaza,” he said, referring to Islamic State advances in Syria, including Yarmouk district south of Damascus, where Palestinian refugees constitute majority.
Ghazzawi also called on IS supporters in Gaza prisons to be patient, saying: “I swear, you will be free in the near future and you will take your revenge.”
On the other hand, Israel’s intelligence minister, Israel Katz, accused Hamas on Tuesday of partnering with Islamic State affiliates in the Egyptian Sinai –a charge that has been repeatedly denied by the Palestinian movement of Hamas.
“There is cooperation between them in the realm of weapons smuggling and terrorist attacks. The Egyptians are aware of this, and the Saudis as well,” Katz told a Tel Aviv conference organized by the Israel Defense journal.
“At the same time, within Gaza, ISIS has been flouting Hamas. But they have common cause against the Jews, in Israel or abroad.”
The Islamic State is not only fighting in Syria and Iraq, but also claiming attacks in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen as well as in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and France.
